Rangatahi Ball
Come together for good music, laughs and vibes. The evening will be a chance to celebrate Matariki with games, prizes and great kai.
This Matariki Ball will provide rangatahi with a safe, inclusive, and uplifting formal event that celebrates the values and meaning of Matariki. It creates an opportunity for young people to participate in a positive social experience, particularly for those who may face financial or social barriers to attending formal events.
The evening will centre on remembrance, reflection, celebration, and aspiration. Activities include an MC-led programme sharing Matariki messages, a goal-setting station inspired by Hiwa-i-te-Rangi, a Matariki knowledge quiz, and a remembrance board acknowledging loved ones, reflecting Pōhutukawa.
The kaupapa aims to foster cultural pride, strengthen identity, and encourage personal development, while building strong connections among rangatahi in a supportive environment.
Suitable for ages 14 to 18. Formal dress. Free entry.
Hosted by Ahurei.
