Hamilton City Council is currently asking for feedback on Back on Track – Hamilton’s COVID-19 Response Budget.
The impact of COVID-19 on our community and on Council’s finances means they’re proposing some changes to get our city back on track. This includes $7.3 million in savings, $1.1 million of support for ratepayers and organisations struggling with the effects of COVID-19, and pushing back the start date for some of major projects but continuing with $300 million worth of projects to support Hamilton’s economy.
Changes at Hamilton Gardens
One of the proposed changes is that the glasshouses beside Cobham Drive are closed.
The structures are nearing the end of their useful life as public facilities and they will become isolated by the proposed new roading layout that’s being considered in the Management Plan review.
New display houses are proposed for the lower portion of Hamilton Gardens where they’re likely to receive more use. The first of these is the Pasifika Garden, for which construction is already underway.
Do you agree with this proposed closure? Tell Council what you think at hamilton.govt.nz/annualplan/feedback Feedback is open until 10 July 2020.
