From 4pm to 7pm.
Come along to the grand opening of the Mansfield Garden.
This garden has been inspired by the early 20th Century New Zealand garden as described in Katherine Mansfield’s famous short story ‘The Garden Party’. We have recreated the late 19th-century villa and nearby tennis court, lily pond and planting reminiscent of the era.
Be one of the first to walk on the tennis court and see the banquet table covered in traditional foods from the era...except these ones have been crafted by an artist from resin and concrete! The tennis court will be closed to the public after the official opening.
The first 100 guests will receive a souvenir booklet to celebrate the garden and its history.
We are expecting a significant number of visitors to the opening so recommend walking or cycling to the Gardens along the riverbanks or through the Cobham Drive underpass. If you are driving, please park through Gate 2.
