Gardens Café and Lakeside Restaurant
The Lakeside Restaurant is open from 12noon to 3pm with a changing seasonal menu. The Lakeside Restaurant is an ideal venue for late afternoon and evening functions and it provides a catering service for functions held within Hamilton Gardens, particularly those held in the Hamilton Gardens Pavilion. Tour groups can also be catered for by prior arrangement.
Special NeedsPeople with disabilitiesParking for people with disabilities are reserved in each of the main carparks.
A Wheelchair is also available from the Information Centre for a small donation, which is passed on to the NZ Red Cross.
Most paths in the gardens are at less than a one in twelve grade. However the paths up to the Camellia Carpark and Victorian Flower Garden are steeper and we advise parking in the Camellia Carpark accessible from Gate 2 for easier access to the top areas of Hamilton Gardens. The toilets next to the Turtle Lake Carpark, accessible from Gate 1, are wheelchair accessible and there is a toilet for disabled people in the Hamilton Gardens Pavilion.
ChildrenA playground is located next to the Rose Garden Carpark from Gate 2.
Parents of young children are discouraged from letting young children wander unaccompanied around Hamilton Gardens. Apart from the dangers inherent in any public park there are several water features and steep banks.
