Our meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month (February through November) starting at 7.30pm. Meetings in 2017 will be held in a Wintec classroom which is across the car park from the Chartwell Square Room in the Hamilton Gardens complex, Cobham Drive. Access is from Gate 2 on Cobham Drive.
Our subscription for 2017 is $30 per member or $50 per household of two and must be paid during the February or March meetings for continuing members, or posted to the Treasurer (see address below). New members can join at any time. To help defray the speakers’ expenses, visitors will be charged $5 per meeting (students free).
Margaret Liddell, an accomplished plant breeder and judge, will speak on iris cultivation. She will give an illustrated presentation and have flowers on display.
This talk will be preceded by a short Annual General Meeting.
The aims of this society are to encourage interest in plants and horticulture, to educate about gardening and horticulture and to share our love of plants.
Our meetings start with a brief introduction when forthcoming functions and visits are brought to the attention of members. Our guest speaker is then invited to speak. Following that, one of our more knowledgeable members discusses the plants brought along for the display table. The meeting finishes with supper, which is when our raffle is drawn. There are also plants from members’ gardens for sale.
Garden visits are arranged on an irregular basis.
